Dennis Mather – President/Certified Home Inspector
Dennis Mather grew up in Michigan, with two older brothers and a father who kept them all busy either maintaining their own homes, or working on remodeling jobs for other family or friends. This early introduction into construction helped to form his love of building and making things. Like many kids from the Motor City, he started working for an automotive company right out of high school, and spent almost 32 years at Chrysler, starting in production, going thru a 4 yr apprenticeship for Toolmaking, then working his way up to a Manufacturing Engineering Project Manager position which he did for the last 16 yrs until retirement. He also got married to his childhood sweetheart Gail right out of high school, at the young ages of 20 and 19 yrs old. They have three successful and happy daughters and 5 fantastic grand children.
Over the years, due to his well known love and knowledge of home design and construction, he was ask many times to help evaluate homes and construction projects for family and friends, and upon retirement from Chrysler he decided to make it a part time profession. He was officially trained and certified for doing Home Inspections in Michigan starting in 2001. This lasted for a few years until the entire family decided to move to Colorado. At the same time, they also purchased a rental home on the beach, deciding to split their time between the beach and the mountains of Colorado. While living in Colorado for a few years, Dennis helped to design and build 2 hand built log homes with his middle daughter Salina, while simultaneously designing and building an energy efficient green home for his oldest daughter Kristie. He also worked for a short time with some friends doing home remodeling in the Denver area. In 2007, they decided to sell their home in Colorado and live full time in Pensacola, Florida. During this time, Dennis decided to take the necessary training to become a Catastrophe Insurance Adjuster, which he did for the next 6 years. He recruited his son-in-law Scott Burris to join him, and together they travelled from Florida to New York, inspecting thousands of storm damaged homes and businesses and helping people rebuild their homes and lives. After a few years of extensive travel doing this, they decided to start a Home Inspection business in Pensacola so they could stay home and be with family. Pro 1 Home Inspection was thus created and they have inspected thousands of homes in the Gulf Coast since then, helping people to make well informed and sensible decisions on the largest investment of their lives.
Dennis is proud of their accomplishments thus far, and looks forward to continue doing what it takes to keep this company the most trusted, well respected Home Inspection company in the area.
Scott Burris – Vice President/Certified Home Inspector
Scott was born in Des Moines Iowa, and at a young age moved to Evergreen, Colorado. He was the oldest of three boys, and seems to remember always building or disassembling something as a kid. He grew up working in the family motorcycle business. This was a great character builder for him and he was able to learn some valuable experiences, that even his college education couldn’t provide. After nearly 15 years working on motorcycles, providing motocross instruction, and racing, Scott decided to change careers. He now has implemented his mechanical expertise into the working of construction and building.
Scott met his beautiful wife, Tamara, while he was working in the family motorcycle business. “She has always been my biggest supporter and best friend in this journey.” The two of them have three amazing children Gavin, Trinity and Savannah.
One of Scotts character building opportunities came with his time as a catastrophe adjuster, a profession that was a great way to see thousands of homes and conditions as well as how systems work simultaneously. Through this, he was able to apply his work ethic and skills toward those in need. After several years of adjusting and working in many different states, Tamara and Scott wanted to move and experience living near water. Relocating to Florida has been a great experience and has given them some wonderful opportunities.
Currently, Scott Burris is Pro 1 Home Inspection’s Certified Master Inspector. He has completed thousands of inspections in the Florida Panhandle since starting the company in 2014. He is an Internachi certified inspector and attained his Master Inspector Certification in early 2017. Scott has both technical and practical knowledge to share on construction and building. He is striving to share his experiences, wealth of knowledge and practices with others to continue to expand Pro 1 Home Inspection services to this whole region of the country. He plans on applying his experience with storm exposure to how they integrate into insurability and inform and educate others on home inspections.
